ESKOM Holdings SOC Limited is a South African state-owned company responsible for the generation, distribution and marketing of electricity in South Africa. It is the largest producer of electricity in Africa and one of the largest energy companies in the world. It is also responsible for maintaining and repairing electricity distribution networks and billing consumers. ESKOM is financed by electricity tariffs paid by consumers, and is regulated by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA).
