NAWEC

NAWEC (National Water and Electricity Corporation) is the national utility responsible for the generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity and water in The Gambia. It was established in 1981 as the Gambia Electricity Corporation, and was renamed in 2001 to include water services. The company is primarily responsible for providing electricity to urban and rural areas, and ensuring that residential and commercial customers have access to clean, reliable water. NAWEC also manages and maintains the country's power and water infrastructure, including hydroelectric plants, dams and water treatment plants.
