THE 60TH MEETINGS OF THEASEA : A MAJOR MILESTONE FOR AFRICA’S ENERGY FUTURE
The 60th Annual Meetings of the Association of African power utility (ASEA) were held from July 27 to 31, 2026, in Accra, Ghana. This major continental gathering brought together leaders, experts, and key stakeholders in the African electricity sector to address a common challenge: accelerating the development of an energy sector that is more reliable, sustainable, integrated, and accessible to all.
Discussions focused in particular on the following topic: Accelerating the Integration of the Electricity Market in Africa: Advancing Regulatory Preparedness, Regional Market Development, and Strategic Partnerships.
- A review of the Association’s activities and an examination of its financial statements;
- Strengthening cooperation between the " power utility " and development partners;
- The integration and interconnection of the continent’s power grids;
- The challenges and opportunities associated with the development of energy infrastructure;
- The need to strengthen capacity and foster innovation to support the sector’s transformation.
These 60th Annual Meetings also served as ideal platforms for sharing experiences, strengthening partnerships, and defining common priorities for a more resilient energy future for Africa.
